Baby #4

Trevor and I have been talking about whether or not we will have a fourth child. I know, I know. Four. FOUR BABIES. It’s a lot. But, is it? In the beginning, our conversation kind of focused on what other people would say. Again, four kids is A LOT. And we already have three under the age of four. We wondered if we would be judged or honestly made fun of. Would people think we were crazy? Selfish? Trevor ended up pointing out that it really doesn’t matter what other people think.

A friend of mine once said that Americans have it all backwards. We have big houses and small families, when actually we should have small houses and big families. TRUTH. I thought this was articulated so well and points out a major flaw in our culture.

Having three kids is HARD, exhausting, and stressful but, honestly I wouldn’t change it. It’s also FUN and full of love. They bring so much joy to our lives BUT, more than that- God has big plans for their lives.

I know the world is a scary place, and there are times that I think, “How am I going to raise my children here? And how could I bring another one into it?” But really, isn’t that just what the world needs? The world needs children, raised by decent humans, to grow up and make it a better place.

“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.” Psalm 127:3-5

Our awesome Sunday School teachers taught on this verse last year. It completely renewed our view on our role and our role as parents. Children aren’t burdens, they are blessings.
